Higi Acquires Earndit

You may remember Earndit from a few posts here, including their post-launch audio interview. Well, they've been acquired!

Higi is based in Chicago, and they power health kiosks in over 2,000 retail locations in 29 states. Last month, they acquired Earndit, a fitness challenges and rewards platform, based in Seattle. Details of the deal were not disclosed.

But I know what they were, because I was an advisor! And no, I'm not telling. I don't think you can consider this an exit for me, since my role/employment hasn't changed. Now I'm just an informal advisor, because you can't shut me up :)

I remember when Harry Kautzman II (co-founder and buddy) was sitting at Top Pot Doughnuts showing me the early prototype and design. Harry and Andres Moran bootstrapped this business and worked their tails off, bringing on talented folks along the way to share in the adventure. I'm proud of these guys.

Andres says of the deal: “When we started Earndit, we began with physical activity but it was always our vision to expand into other metrics and, specifically, biometric data. Interestingly enough, this acquisition allows Earndit within higi to reward people for those other metrics. It satisfies that vision we had really from the outset.”

In a press release this morning, higi CTO Dr. Khan Siddiqui stated: “We are thrilled to integrate Earndit into the higi engagement platform. Earndit not only strengthens our philosophy of making health simple, interactive and rewarding, but also allows us to leverage Earndit’s activity tracking features into our platform, providing our users and partners the next step in their wellness journey.”

Here's the full press release.

Congratulations, guys. You deserve it!
